Brief Introduction

        Chinese dragon and lion dance team of Physical Education College (PEC) of Hunan Normal University, founded in 1998, is the oldest team in Chinese institutions of higher education. Chinese Dragon and Lion Dance Sport Club, Hunan branch, which aims to develop Chinese dragon and lion dance sports in Hunan area, and the Audo Dragon and Lion Dance Club, which is the first non-enterprise Chinese dragon and lion dance club in Hunan Province, were established in PEC, both of them were authorized by Chinese Dragonlion Association in 2002. During the past 11 years, Audo Club has achieved great achievements in many activities at home and abroad: it won the runner-up on behalf of China in the Second World Dragon and Lion Dance Championship which was held in Malaysia in December of 2002; it has participated in the opening ceremony performance of the Root-Seeking Journey for the Young Ethnic Chinese Worldwide held at the Great Hall of the People in 2004 and 2006.

        Up to now, we have eight Chinese dragon and lion dance teams. Meanwhile, related curricula as compulsory, optional and specialized courses concerned with dragon and lion dance sports are offered in PEC. Hereafter, the PEC of Hunan Normal University will make energetic contributions to the popularity of dragon and lion dance sports in higher education institutions of China and will continue its efforts to keep the leading position of its Chinese dragon and lion dance team in China and the world.
